The Athena Benefit is Central Orange County Alumnae Panhellenic's annual fundraising event which recognizes dedicated volunteers. These volunteers make a difference in the Central Orange County area (Garden Grove, Orange, North Tustin, Santa Ana, Tustin, and Villa Park). The first luncheon was held in 1964, and it has become a popular annual event in Orange County.

Organizations in the community are invited to nominate a volunteer in recognition of the outstanding work they have done for the organization and the community.

Two awards are given at the annual luncheon.

The event raises monies for scholarships which are awarded to high school senior women who are pursuing an education at a four year college/university, and who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service to our community. In addition, a scholarship is presented to a Chapman University sorority woman as well as provides financial support to the Collegiate Panhellenic at Chapman.

Over the years, over $100,000 has been awarded in scholarships.

The 2008 luncheon will be held on October 24, 2008 at the Grand Newport Plaza in Costa Mesa (a Turnip Rose facility).

Organizations interested in nominating an outstanding volunteer may request a nominations packet by contacting our Nominations Chair at nominations@ocpanhellenic.com.
