The Athena Benefit is Central Orange County Alumnae Panhellenic's annual fundraising event which recognizes dedicated volunteers. These volunteers make a difference in the Central Orange County area (Garden Grove, Orange, North Tustin, Santa Ana, Tustin, and Villa Park). The first luncheon was held in 1964, and it has become a popular annual event in Orange County.

Organizations in the community are invited to nominate a volunteer in recognition of the outstanding work they have done for the organization and the community.

Two awards are given at the annual luncheon.

The event raises monies for scholarships which are awarded to high school senior women who are pursuing an education at a four year college/university, and who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service to our community. In addition, a scholarship is presented to a Chapman University sorority woman as well as provides financial support to the Collegiate Panhellenic at Chapman.

Over the years, over $100,000 has been awarded in scholarships.

The 2011 luncheon will be held on October 21, 2011 at the Grand Newport Plaza in Costa Mesa (a Turnip Rose facility).

A printable version of the invitation is available here..  Online reservations are available here.

Nominations for 2011 are currently closed. Groups wishing to nominate a volunteer for the 2012 Athena Award may obtain additional information here or by contacting our Nominations Chair at nominations@ocpanhellenic.com.
